He has been awarded for his investigation by the Police.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"Reconstructing<\/a>The TIDOP Research Group, led by the professor of the University of Salamanca Diego Gonz\u00e1lez Aguilera, has created the software<\/em> Fibres -Forensic Image-based reconstruction system- that allows photographs taken with conventional cameras to be converted into 3D format. The system allows real-life scenarios to be reconstructed by joining together various photographs, which must be taken following a protocol and which involves processing by a server in a time that depends on the number of photos and their resolution. Four or five can be processed in a matter of minutes. <\/p>\n

USEFUL FOR SECURITY FORCES<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The USAL group has been working for more than ten years on technologies applied to the reconstruction of real scenarios, something especially useful for fields such as engineering and architecture. Now, they are trying to market their program, something that will undoubtedly be helped by the fact that they have received the National Police Research Award, an award with a financial endowment -20,000 euros- that will help keep their jobs. The agents valued its usefulness in reconstructing forensic scenarios, something that is currently done with complex laser cameras that are very expensive and therefore cannot be used in all cases. <\/p>\n

3D MAP OF THE CITY<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Another of TIDOP’s lines of work is the national Ensmart project for the development of three-dimensional energy mapping of cities, an initiative that has managed to have, for the moment, three vehicles specially equipped to collect data on the thermal envelope of buildings, one of which travels through the streets of cities while the other two take images from the air. <\/p>\n
