CHAMELEON Revolutionises Rural Monitoring with Drones and Satellites
The CHAMELEON project, funded by the Horizon Europe programme, is transforming the management of crops, livestock and forests through the use of drones and satellites. This advanced technology enables the geolocation and accurate assessment of the state of these natural resources, providing clear and detailed data to end users.

CHAMELEON is also developing an online platform that will connect farmers, ranchers and foresters with drone and geomatics experts. This platform will offer a variety of innovative services and tools, continuously adapting to new rural challenges. Diego González Aguilera, lead researcher of the project at the University of Salamanca, highlights the progressive incorporation of new tools to improve the efficiency and sustainability of work in rural areas.
One of CHAMELEON’s most outstanding features is its modular and reconfigurable drone, capable of adapting to various environmental conditions and specific tasks. This innovative approach, together with the integration of advanced geospatial technologies, promises to increase the profitability and sustainability of rural activities, thus benefiting the whole of European society.
