Miguel Ángel Maté González awarded by the European Geosciences Union.

The researcher Miguel Ángel Maté González has been awarded the Outstanding Early Career Scientist Award of the Stratigraphy, Sedimentology and Palaeontology Division (SSP) at the European Geosciences Union Awards.

On 16 November, the European Geosciences Union published the names of the 52 winners of the Medals and Awards for the important contributions they have made to Earth, planetary and space sciences. Among all the awardees, Miguel Ángel Maté Gonzalez is the only Spanish winner of the prestigious European Geosciences Union (EGU) awards with the award as Early Career Scientist 2024 in the Division of Stratigraphy, Sedimentology and Palaeontology (SSP).

Currently, the scientific activity of TIDOP Group researcher Miguel Ángel Maté stands out for his pioneering research in the field of palaeontology. Specifically, his work focuses on the development of an innovative methodology that allows us to obtain information on the behaviour of our ancestors by analysing the faunal fossil record found in Pleistocene archaeological sites.

During the 2024 General Assembly of the European Geosciences Union to be held from 14 to 19 April in Vienna, Miguel Ángel will be honoured together with the rest of the award winners.
