Giving visibility to research from the hand of women

One more year, due to the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (February 11), a wide variety of activities have been carried out. From exhibitions to videoconferences to raise awareness among all audiencies and especially girls, show us the importance and accessibility of women to the different STEM areas (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). More and more initiatives are being developed around this day. In recent years, the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit of the University of Salamanca, in collaboration with Iberdrola and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology, has carried out different activities. Activities for all audiences that provide first-hand insight into the day-to-day life of the women scientists who make up the University of Salamanca (https://culturacientifica.usal.es/). Several researchers from the TIDOP research group have participated in some of them, not only to show their scientific work within the University but also to give visibility to the engineering offered at the Higher Polytechnic School of Ávila. All this, thanks to the exhibition ‘Women who change the USAL’ which is on the lampposts of Avenida Mirat in Salamanca, the organisation of talks in secondary schools, the proposal of scientific challenges to 13-14 year olds (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRlYiPJu-f68Tn6eYx1r0a4HtNpybmY68) and the publication of videos in which they explain their day-to-day lives in a little more detail (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRlYiPJu-f68OqExml11baKftnmgnWXk9).
